2008: #16 – Dead Until Dark (Charlaine Harris)
Book #16 was Dead Until Dark, the first book in Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampires series. The back of the book reads:
Sookie Stackhouse is a cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana, but she keeps to herself and doesn’t date much because of her “disability” to read minds. When she meets Bill, Sookie can’t hear a word he’s thinking. He’s the type of guy she’s waited for all of her life, but he has a disability, too–he’s a vampire with a bad reputation. When one of Sookie’s coworkers is killed, she fears she’s next.
I read this in one sitting, so I think it’s safe to say I enjoyed it. I picked it up on a whim at the library, and had never heard of the series or the author, so it was a very pleasant surprise! Sookie is an interesting girl who doesn’t really know what, or who, she wants. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
