2008: The Sunday Salon – Sunday #7
It’s been a roller coaster couple of weeks for me. I found out about a week and a half ago that I’m being laid off. Since I work(ed) in higher education and I’m the only one who performs my job function on campus, this scenario never even crossed my mind… Not for an instant. My last day is this coming Wednesday. The “good” news is, as long as I’m unemployed I’ll have more time to read! Less time for audiobooks, though.
Anyhoo, I’ve managed to finish a few books in the last two weeks:
- Considering SomeplacElse by B.L. Lindstrom
- Dance with the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon (Dark-Hunters #04)
- Fat Tuesday by Sandra Brown
- Last Known Victim by Erica Spindler
Currently I’m reading Matrimony by Joshua Henkin. I will be giving away a signed copy of this book on Oct 13th, so stay tuned for that! I’m also planning one more giveaway before that, perhaps sometime this week. Despite my soon-to-be-non-existent commute, I also started a new audiobook… Before I Wake, by Dee Henderson. This is a book that my husband’s grandmother really liked, so I thought I’d give it a try!
I’ve also added a few more books to my library: The Sheriff Takes a Wife by Debbie Macomber, Living with the Truth by Jim Murdoch, The Rest of Her Life by Laura Moriarty, and an ARC of The Charlemagne Pursuit by Steve Berry. The last three are definitely on my fall TBR list.
I’ve finished up the Summer Reading Thing challenge (wrap-up post coming early next week), and joined the Fall Into Reading challenge. I’ve got a lot of work to do on my other challenges too…. must read more!
That’s awful about the lay-off, but at least you’ve got a positive attitude. And more time for books can’t be bad. Good luck with your autumn reading.
I’m sorry to hear about your job, but I wish you luck in your reading. It looks like you have a lot of good things to look forward to, at least in that respect.
Sorry about your job. I can’t wait to read your review on Matrimony.
Oh yes, I signed up with the Fall Challenge and my insane list of books. 🙁 I have Sandra Brown’s new book on my hold list at the library. I really like her.
I’m so sorry to hear about your job. I, too, joined the Fall Challenge and look forward to your Matrimony review. That book is blowing up the blogs lately!
I’m so sorry to hear about your job! I hope that you are able to enjoy some extra reading while job hunting. I hope an even better job is right around the corner for you.
I hope that everything works out for you & that you can find a even better job. Happy Reading
