2009: The Sunday Salon – The Wow It's Hot Edition
I don’t know what the weather’s like where you are, but it has been HOT here! And by “here”, I mean Baltimore, where we’ve been since Thursday. Though I hear it’s been plenty hot at home, too, which we’ll confirm once we get home in about 3 1/2 more hours. Say hi to I-66 everyone! Don’t look for any links in this post — I don’t know how to do that on my phone.
We’ve been busy enough this trip that I haven’t done a whole lot of reading. We went to the Maryland Zoo on Friday, and then had a cookout and went to an Orioles game yesterday. Our seats were great, but unfortunately, the O’s lost.
I have finished two books this week. I had to finish off First Family by David Baldacci so I could pass it off to my mother-in-law, who is a big Baldacci fan. It’s a new Sean King/Michelle Maxwell novel, and I thought it was one of the better ones. I think he does an interesting job of messing with your feelings about a particular character…But more on that when I post my actual review.
I also finished Darling Jim by Christian Moerk, which I thought was really great. It’s a rather tragic story of three sisters and their aunt, set in Ireland. I look forward to that review, and recommend the book!
Right now I’m listening to Bonk by Mary Roach, which is what happens when you let your husband pick the audiobook. Look it up and you’ll see what I mean! I’m reading The Firemaster’s Mistress by Christie Dickason. Early 1600s England is not a time period I’m real familiar with, so I’m enjoying it.
That’s all my finger can handle poking out for now, so until next time, happy reading!
It sounds like you’ve had a great trip! I haven’t been to Maryland for almost 20 years, even though it’s so close and I have family down there. It’s super hot here in PA today, too.
Your trip sounds like fun. I couldn’t resist – looked up Bonk and had to laugh. Looking forward to your Baldacci review.
Sounds like a great trip! It’s been hot here too…especially today!
I’m impressed that you’ve sent in a post from your phone, links or no links. Something I must try….
Feel your overheated pain here in DC. Sounds like some great fun you had. Hope the usual 66 parking lot is kind to you. Excellent phone blogging by the way. I have been far less successful so don’t even want to try anymore.
Today I am reading The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. Happy reading!
I’m impressed that you were able to type a post that long with your phone! After reading what you wrote, I’m anxious to get to First Family.
Baldacci is a fun author, isn’t he? A lot more fun than intense heat, in my opinion! I’m more of a Winter girl myself, but I know that puts me in a minority. It was fun reading about your week.
