I cannot possibly express in words how much I enjoy John Jakes’s books. He just has an incredible talent for historical fiction, especially in the Civil War time period. I really liked this book, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the trilogy.

As is so often the case for me, I see the movie, or in the case of “North and South,” the mini series and then read the book. I loved both the series and the book. I’m going to have to pick up more of John Jakes’ writing.
I’ve got the DVD set of the trilogy on my wish list!
